"A Catherine Original" is the result of founder and designer, Cathy Jordan's, lifetime exposure to art and jewelry .
Born in the Carolinas to a jeweler's family, Cathy was exposed at an early age to the classic elegance of the south, a style that would later inspire her popular designs. At a young age, she worked in her family's fine jewelry business, learning first hand about gemstones and quality craftsmanship.
Upon earning a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree and minor in Psychology, she pursed a graphic design career, all the while designing her own line of jewelry and accessories for private clients requesting her services. After working in advertising for seventeen years, eight being when she owned her own design company, she ventured into the jewelry world full-time, but this time on the design end, marrying her knowledge and training in the graphics business with the jewelry industry.
Two short years later, the company burst onto the fashion scene at an ambitious rate. Our clientele now spans the U.S. and Europe and includes celebrities such as Laura Linney, John Travolta, Scarlett Johansson, and Kelly Ripa. We are also excited to announce that our jewelry was included in the 2005 Annual Academy Awards Official Gift Basket and "Entertainment Weekly" 2004 Emmy basket. Our pieces were also featured at the Reel World Film Festival in Ontario, Canada and the "Fashion Cares" annual fashion show and fundraiser. We were also honored to be the only jeweler selected for the 2005 Emmy Nominee gift basket.
